Buying bitcoin & other crypto at SCB (2023)
Siam Commercial Bank does not yet offer crypto services, but this may change in the future. Fortunately, until then, you can still buy crypto with your bank account at SCB by signing up to a crypto exchange.
How to buy crypto with Siam Commercial Bank?
Step 1: open an account with a crypto exchange
There are dozens of crypto exchanges where you can buy and sell Bitcoin & many other altcoins. In the overview below, you can immediately see the crypto exchanges I would recommend:

Step 2: verify account & deposit money
After you open an account, you still need to verify it. You often have to confirm at least your e-mail address and often you also have to upload a copy of your passport and proof address. After your account is fully verified, you can deposit money directly from your bank account at SCB.
Step 3: buy crypto with SCB
Select the crypto you want to invest in within the trading platform. Most crypto exchanges allow you to invest in your favourite crypto coins 24/7.
Within the order screen, you then enter the amount you want to invest. You can invest in crypto with as little as $1 at most exchanges. Because Bitcoin is divisible, you can also buy a small part of a crypto coin. Press buy to send the order to the crypto exchange.
What is SCB’s crypto policy?
SCB is clearly in favour of crypto: in 2022, they for instance tried to buy out a major crypto exchange. The bank eventually decided to abandon this as major problems came to light.
Despite SCB not yet owning a crypto exchange itself, there are no problems buying crypto with your bank account at the bank. This is because SCB does not block transactions to reliable crypto exchanges.
